Gunhild A. Stordalen

MD/PhD, co-founder & chair of Stordalen Foundation and CEO of GreeNudge. Director of the board of Nordic Choice Hospitality Group, Ecohz, Zero and European Climate Foundation.

Gunhild A. Stordalen (born 1979) is a Norwegian medical doctor and environmentalist, and holds a PhD in pathology/orthopaedic surgery from the University of Oslo. 

She is the co-funder and chair of the Stordalen Foundation, which she established in 2011 together with her husband and Norwegian hotel chain owner Petter A. Stordalen. Under the Stordalen Foundation, she initiated the environmental organization GreeNudge, now an independent foundation with the mission to initiate, fund and communicate behavioural research on measures that can nudge and push forward sustainable behaviour at scale. She chairs the GreeNudge management board. 

In 2013, she founded the EAT initiative under the Stordalen Foundation, together with the Stockholm Resilience Centre as the main academic partner. Stordalen has been a driving force in linking climate, health and sustainability, through conferences such as the Swedish Society of Medicine´s “Global Health – Beyond 2015” and Oxford University´s ReSource2012. 

She is also heavily involved and has helped develop the annual Zero Emission Conference (ZERO). She holds several board positions in both corporate companies such as Home Invest and Nordic Choice Hotel Group, not-for-profit organizations such as Zero Emission Resource Organization (ZERO) and EcoHz Renewable Energy Foundation. In addition, she serves at the International Advisory Board of Stockholm Resilience Centre at the Stockholm University. 

She has served on the Norwegian Medical Association´s Council for Human Rights, Global Health and Climate Change, as well as Norway's National Council for Sustainable Development. She is a published scientist and a renowned public speaker with a distinct, personal voice and a strong, passionate commitment. 

Stordalen has several times been ranked among the 100 most influential Norwegian Women by the Financial magazine Kapital. She was named Woman of the Year 2013 for her environmental work by Norway’s largest magazine for women, KK, and appointed Environmental Hero of the Year by WWF Sweden in 2014. In March 2015, she was appointed Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Petter A. Stordalen

Co-founder and board member of Stordalen Foundation, Owner and CEO of Home Invest. Chairman of the board of Nordic Choice Hotels and Home Properties, chairman of Home Capital.

Petter A. Stordalen is the son of a merchant. He started out selling strawberries in the small town of Porsgrunn. Today he owns one of the biggest hotel chains in the Nordics. The company has over 170hotels, employs 10 000 people, control 11 well-established brands and boasted an annual revenue of 7.199 million NOK in 2011. 

The triple bottom line philosophy guides the Corporate Responsibility (CR) work at Nordic Choice Hotels; the financial, the environmental and the social statements should all go in the black. In 2007, the company became the world’s first smoke-free hotel chain. In 2008, every hotel was certified in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard. 

The company also cooperates with the Rainforest Foundation Norway and helped preserve 53.600 hectars of tropical rainforest in 2012. The same year Nordic Choice Hotels opened Norway’s first hotel to achieve the highest energy efficiency ranking available.
Nordic Choice Hotels has won the Grand Travel Award for Best Work Place four years in a row. 


Henrik Christensen

Board Member

Henrik A. Christensen holds a cand. jur. degree (1989) from the University of Oslo. He has been a law firm partner at Ro Sommernes since 2004. Christensen handles property law, bankruptcy and debt settlements, mergers and acquisitions as well as law involving securities and stocks. In addition he serves on the boards of companies owned by Petter A. Stordalen as well as other businesses.

Sune Nordgren

Board Member

Sune Nordgren, former artist and illustrator, is now one of Scandinavia’s best-known curators of modern art. He was the founding director of the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo, Norway (2003-2006) and the founding director of BALTIC, the Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, England (1998-2003).



Board Member

Henrik Anker Stordalen (born 1994) is a graduate from Fagerborg High School in Oslo (2013). After finishing his studies at The Norwegian Military Academy (2015), he continues his education at The School of Management in Bergen, Norway. 


Emilie A. Stordalen

Board Member

Emilie Anker Stordalen (born  1992) is a recent graduate from Cornell University in New York, where she holds a Bachelor of Science in hospitality mangement. She is currently enrolled at Imperial College London, where she is completing her Masters Degree in strategic marketing and business management. 



Jakob A. stordalen

Board Member

Jakob Anker Stordalen (born 1997) is a graduate from Oslo Commerce School. He is now studying at Stowe School in Buckingham, England, taking courses in British and American Politics, Economics and American and Russian History.
